EACH SOFA WE PRODUCE IS INDIVIDUALLY BENCH MADE BY A SINGLE UPHOLSTERER. WE DO NOT USE ASSEMBLY LINE OR MASS PRODUCTION CONTRACTION METHODS, THEREBY ALLOWING FOR CAREFUL ATTENTION TO THE FINISH QUALITY OF EACH PIECE. EVERY SOFA IS CAREFULLY INSPECTED PRIOR TO PACKAGING TO ENSURE HIGHEST PRODUCT INTEGRITY.

OUR FRAMES

Frame construction is a vital key to lasting strength and durability. Our construction begins with four quarter “kiln dried” hardwood (alder) as our material of choice for each “single piece” hand crafted frame. We do not bolt on arms, as that compromises frame strength. All our frames are double doweled, glued (non-toxic water based furniture glue) and blocked at all major stress points. All our frames come with the lifetime warranty to the original owner.

OUR SPRINGS

A strong component to this mix lies within our state of the art spring system. We designed this system using heavy arched 8 gauge steel serpentine springs. Secured to the front and back of the frame with coated metal clips, prevents the rub of metal on metal; thus, eliminating “squeaking”. The springs are bound with paper-coated cross wires for even weight absorption. We space our springs a comfortable 3” apart with double rows at each end for extra support in the corners; where most of us gravitate. Why didn’t we opt for 8 way hand tied springs? Simply, they’re not better. We discovered they do not offer a more comfortable sit, they are not current in regard to technology and fresh design, and they are not easier to repair. They are however, more costly. Therefore, we have decided serpentine springs are a far better option. For diehard traditionalists however, we do offer 8 way hand tied springs as an option on most styles.

OUR SEAT CUSHIONS

We are obsessed with comfort. Cushioning is the true source of a seat’s power to please, so we opt for the most luxe, high quality components available to satisfy even the most discriminating of bottoms. Our foam cores are High Resiliency (HR) foam, the best available; in your choice of Soft, Medium, or Firm comfort levels. Note: All foams we use are CertiPUR-US approved which means they are made without ozone depleters, PBDE flame retardants, mercury lead or other heavy metals, formaldehyde, phthalates and are very low in VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions indoor air quality ( less than 0.5 ppm). Our standard fill is a high-quality poly fiber designed for maximum resilience and comfort, encased in a channeled liner bag to prevent sagging. For added luxury, we can wrap the foam core in a channeled envelope filled with Hypoallergenic Synthetic Down (Trillium), 10/90 Down blend, or 70/30 Down blend depending on the level of comfort you desire. In addition, we also offer a Spring / Down cushion option for the ultimate in luxurious seating comfort.

ADDITIONAL CHEMICAL FREE OPTIONS

Our chemical-free sofas and sectionals are designed with your health and comfort in mind. They are made with 100% natural latex foam, organic FSC certified kiln dried Pine and Alder, zero-VOC water based glues and stains as well as and non PFC treated olefin fabrics that are, in fact, greener fabrics because their production has smaller environmental impact than production of cotton, linen, or wool. 

WHAT IS OLEFIN

TODAY, THE OLEFIN MARKET MAKES UP 16 % OF FIBER PRODUCTION. OLEFIN USES NO WATER OR LAND DURING THE PRODUCTION AND WAS ONCE WASTE MATERIAL FROM OIL PRODUCTION; MAKING IT ONE OF THE GREENEST TEXTILES WITH THE LOWEST CARBON FOOTPRINT (SOURCE: HIGG INDEX). OLEFIN IS INHERENTLY SAFE, BUT HOW OLEFIN IS TREATED IS THE TRUE MEASURE OF HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONSCIOUSNESS.

CHEMICALS LIKE POLYFLUORINATED COMPOUNDS (PFC’S) ARE SPRAYED ON FURNITURE, RUGS, AND APPAREL TO REPEL WATER AND STAINS. ANTI-MICROBIALS  AND FIRE RETARDANTS ARE ALSO USED BUT HAVE BEEN FOUND BY THE GREEN SCIENCE POLICY INSTITUTE TO HAVE HEALTH EFFECTS. OLEFIN FABRICS ONLY USE THEIR OWN MOLECULAR STAIN RESISTANCE PROPERTIES AND THE WEAVE DESIGN TO REPEL STAINS. OLEFIN IS NATURALLY STAIN RESISTANT SO THERE IS ZERO NEED FOR WATER OR DIRT REPELLING CHEMICALS AND ANTIMICROBIALS THAT CAN AFFECT YOUR HEALTH.
